What’s the philosophy behind Orion’s Mind?

The Orion’s Mind curriculum is based upon recent developments in brain research. Most researchers agree that there are two ways we can increase our ability to recall what we’ve learned:
1) by practicing the concept through repetition
2) by experiencing a concept in multiple ways

Multiple Intelligences & Learning Styles

Our goal is to increase the neural networks in a student’s brain. By using the same piece of information in multiple ways, the fact becomes connected to many areas of the brain, creating more ways the brain has to recall that information. For example, creating a sculpture to represent 2x2=4 connects this fact to the artistic part of the brain. Once this learning path or neural network is in place, you can use it to learn other things.

Orion’s Mind utilizes multiple intelligences, as well as visual, audible, kinesthetic, and writing learning styles. Because we use several learning styles, Orion’s Mind helps connect students’ preferred method of learning to the less-preferred style; thus strengthening students’ ability to learn using non-preferred methodologies. Orion’s Mind helps students to continue learning, even after our program is over.
